About Lorna Skeie
I started painting after my children were grown and was employed as a make-up artist for a manniquin company. Since then it has become a daily part of my life. I am blessed to be surrounded by beauty of nature and all things that surround us. My entire life has been in Southern California, so I do love to paint that which I see year round such as flowers, trees, ocean and desert. I have been fortunate to travel extensively and that is a never ending source of subject matter and wonderful memories.
My formal training has been with very talented artists, some of national reputation, such as Neil Boyle and Ron McKee. In 1986 I was fortunate to attend classes at the Royal College of Art in London, England under the tutoring of Philip Rowson. Currently I am studying with Manuel Orgega.
In 2010 and again in 2012 I have been part of a two woman show in the Second Story Gallery, located in the historic Walker House in San Dimas. The House of Wickersham in Newport Beach and the " Affaire in the Garden, Beverly Hills" California as well as serving as program Chairman for the Beverly Hills Art League. Many of my pieces were purchased by those in the entertainment industry.
My miniatures are available in the gift shop of the Hotel Bel Air, Azo Gallery and Austin's on Coronado Island.
I hope that you enjoy looking at my work as much as I do in creating it!
